I haven't seen it in ages, though. I guess I figured that Wapner died. However, though he was born the same year as my grandfather, I don't see a death date. Perhaps he's just retired.

From what I know, he's "taking a break." He couldn't decide whether or not to re-up the pet show, so decided he needed an overall vacation. Whether or not he'll ever come back from it was left unanswered.
